ocg's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recall Weeekend... Part of the First Well, first and foremost, please let me introduce you to the newest member of my family: ![]() She is a 1 1/2 year old Boston Terrier/ Chihuahua mix, and she is the best dog EVER! So I never really wrote much about Recall Weekend: When they ask what happened, well, we don't recall! I thought I'd share a couple of pictures and some tidbits. ![]() This is Jinxie. She and Foxy Loxy got up to Ocean Park in the morning, so they had a great head start on us. I didn't know until the day we were leaving that it wasn't Long Beach, but whatever! It was so fun! Jinxie was passed out when Skittles and I showed up on Friday evening (but my oh my, she caught her second wind when we got to Doc's, the local tavern, later in the evening). We started out by trying to rouse Jinxie, and then decided to have a couple of cocktails and peruse the grounds of the Estate. I made a crack when I got back inside that there were two rules: 1. If a man in a mask knocks on the door, DON'T OPEN IT! and 2. If the scary music starts playing, DON'T GO IN THE BASEMENT!. Jinxie replied that she'd already met the caretaker, Otto, and I asked if we were going to foil his plot to shut down the old amusement park, so he'd shake his fist at us and yell, "You meddlin' kids!". We laughed, and then... Played a rousing game of Scruples. Have you ever played this game? I think it came out in the late 70s/ early 80s, and it basically consists of presenting situations, and trying to guess how the other players will answer. I can't think of a more entertaining way to get to know your friends better, so if you see it at a yard sale, pick it up, sersly. At about 11:30, we'd had our fill of games, and headed on over to Doc's. Ah, local flair! Our bartender, Ian, was a doll, and poured us quite a few pitchers of the silver sissy. We played some music and pool, chatted with the locals, and tried to not get too obnoxious. We were totally obnoxious, though. Just a tip for you guys up there in Ocean Park? You. Girls. Party. Tonight.? in broken english is not a hott pick up line. And old guy that did the brush by? EWW! We rounded out the evening by walking back the house, and having a couple more cocktails and going to sleep, but not before the macramé was saved, the wall was injured, a dog pile was completed, and the frame of the bed had met each of our shins. I have no idea what time we fell asleep. In the morning, for some ungodly reason, Jinxie was the first up. At 8:30 in the morning, the two of us are tooling around the grocery looking for champagne and breakfase fixin's. Oh, and whomever the lady was that pulled her 4 year old closer as we went by, in the classic mother hen protecting the chicklet move: We're not going to eat or otherwise injure your baby. Honest. We had some Miss Kitty McMuffins and mimosas, quizzed each other with the Mindtrap cards. [We never actually played the game, just quizzed each other. So what do Skittles and a man with an umbrella have in common?] Then, to the beach. Ah, sweet beach! It was basically just a short walk before it was time for high noon drinks. Back at the Estate, we pulled out the lawn chairs and beverages, wiffle ball and bat, and had a good old fashioned "pitch and hit" baseball fest!
Skittles and Foxy Loxy relax in the sun I had laughed when Foxy Loxy kept ducking while I was batting, but, as the caption of the first picture states: Jinxie: dead on shot! First pitch- WHAM! right into my hip. I'm so glad it was a wiffle ball. At some point aliens accosted me and really? I totally got Cartman-ed in the bathroom by them. The Silver Sissies strike for the last time! When I was finally returned to earth, I walk out of the house, and there's this guy on a bicycle in the yard. I gave the ladies a "huh?" look, and Jinxie introduces us. "Miss Kitty, this is Otto. Otto- Miss Kitty." My mouth dropped open, and I blurted out, "Wow! There really IS an Otto?" Otto stood there looking confused as we cracked up. Poor guy. Stay tuned for Recall Weekend: When they ask what happened, well, we don't recall - Part of the Second I leave you with this teaser, make what you will of it.
