ocg's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I feel like I have needed to write something, I just can't think of what. Well, at least I can give y'all a little update on what has been going on for the past coupla weeks. NOTHING. (*o_o*) Tee hee, just kidding. Well, sort of... I completed my deliciously toxic cheesy seventies coasters, complete with miniature starfish, netting, and pearls embedded in plastic resin. Only 3 of them turned out, as I chipped one when I was breaking the glass jar off of it. I would definitely use PVA mold release next time, when I make the *real* coasters- with the little nudie pics, a la Pad:The Guide to Ultra Living by Matt Maranian. For anyone that has designs of having a home that is not necessarily 'traditional', I really reccommend this book. (However, I would not have included the chapters on drinks and gardening, but I can see how he arrived at the idea that it would be good to include them.) Lotsa good ideas, and pretty pictures. Hmmm... what else? Well, I leave at the crack-o-dawn tomorrow to go to Coos Bay. I'm going to help my mom prepare some things for Kimmie's baby shower on Saturday. For those of you that are not familiar with Kimmie, she is currently pregnant with my brother's child. I think I can call her his girlfriend, (I'd rather call her my sister-in-law, personally) but I never know from one week to the next. That's for them to work out.... at any rate, I have almost completed wrapping her gifts... she's already seen the baby quilt that I made her (my first quilt ever, and pretty darn good, if I do say so myself!). I fixed the dye on it yesterday (soaked in 1/3 vinegar/water), washed it, and now just need to give it a quick press. We also got some 'onesies' (I think that's what they are called), a bib that is cute as hell, a Lion King sing-a-long DVD, and a little Tommy Hilfiger shirt (both Kimmie and my bro are 'fashion conscious') (and the shirt was on sale). I again amazed myself, and the boy, of course, with my fabulous wrapping job. I covered 5 rectangular boxes of graduated size with various colors of mulberry paper, added some baubles and beads, stacked them, and am going to tie them with ribbon. I can't really describe it well on here, and constantly tell myself to sign up for the site that can post the picture thingees. If you would like to see some fabulously blurry pictures taken with my crappy webcam, you can go here: my lame aol page Hey, I just learned that I can blog through AOL.... hrm.... very interesting! Well, folks, I have to cut it off for now. The boy wants to go play somewhere, soooo.... checkee later... - 8.21.03 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
