I'm a' Livin' in a Box

I need a house. Not just 'kinda want', not just 'would like the space'. You can't spray paint, or paint period, in your 'craft room' if it has your computer, television, and carpeting that you are responsible for leaving in decent condition for the next tenants. I am feeling limited.... no, throttled because of my space restrictions. And after two projects that were sprayed out 'on the playground' (long story, short version: I live 20 feet from my apt complex's playground. I HATE noisy children, especially ones I am not related to. More to come (someday) on that), that wound up with bugs, dust, and dirt embedded in them. Hence the length in completing the porno toilet seat I have completely worked out, other than a place to do it.

I need a nice, clean, well-ventilated area. Preferably dust at a minimum... a freaking shack would work. But, alas, it's just outside of the reach of the time that I will have completely off. No, we can't move until at least November. And by November, I won't have time to do my (happy) work. I'll be slinging pipe cleaners and puffy paint at Michael's or something by then, or deep in the midst of trying to 'make' Xmas presents. Maybe I should just stick to sewing. It's nice, clean, indoors, and not my best work, unless I try realllly hard. I'm rambling....

I'm on a painting kick. Bought stuff yesterday at Home Despot for the table that I can't quite decide what to do with. Decoupage a chessboard, or cut holes in the top for bowls to put plants in? Two very different thoughts for the same table that I have been meditating on for about 4 months now. Either way, the table itself is going to be black (glossy).

[Sidenote: I was just doing a search for a link, and my little webbity thing here came up as first link on a search for what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it was the result of a typo in an author's name that I will be shortly correcting. Neat!]

Anyway, for this table, I have been thinking of the following idea, check out the inspiration: #1: the cutout, low table This is featured in Pad: Parties by Matt Maranian (hence the misspelling).

Mind you, I have a perfectly square table, not a coffee/ cocktail length table, which led me to this thought:

#2: I have no picture for this idea, but I have all of the images that I need from an old art history book, to make it a chess table, black background, with each side being gold or silver themed, and images from art throughout history being the 'light' spaces. I have artwork for the king, queen, and bishop spaces for both (ready to go, before I discovered the cutout table in Pad: Parties).

Leave a comment; tell me if you like #1 or #2 more. I'm sure that I won't be able to start the table until we move, so you've got plenty of time.

Meanwhile, I'm going to try to remember that this apartment is almost 2X bigger than the one we moved into when we first came here to Portland. I have to appreciate what I have.
